Trade between Vietnam and Mozambique reached $100 million in 2014

As part of the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between Mozambique and Vietnam, whose trade reached $100 million in 2014, the Vietnamese Embassy and the Association of Small and Medium Vietnamese Companies organized the Mozambique-Vietnam Business Forum on June 24, in coordination with the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA), the Investment Promotion Centre (CPI) and the Mozambican Association of Small and Medium Enterprises.
At the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador in Mozambique Nguyen Van Trung said his country would invest more than $2 million in the study of seed to be used in a large-scale rice production project in the province of Zambezia.
Currently, Vietnam is developing socio-economic development projects in Mozambique in various fields, with particular emphasis on agriculture and telecommunications. Last year, over $400 million was invested in the country.
For Prehlad Prakash, vice president of the CTA, the arrival of a delegation of Vietnamese entrepreneurs in Mozambique is a “signal that the country stands out as an attractive destination for foreign investors and has a special place in the economic and political agenda of Vietnam. Mozambique is undoubtedly an indispensable strategic partner in which Vietnam must continue to believe and invest as a win-win partnership,” added Prakash Prehlad.
